The lecture is entitled
"A Thread Tale". In this 45-minute lecture,
I describe the differences between threads that are available on the market
today. Threads included in the lecture are cotton, polyester, rayon, silk and
many decorative types of threads. It covers suggestions for applications using these
threads as well as tips on how to successfully use decorative threads. You
will learn what the industry "Buzzwords" mean. The lecture includes an overview of
sewing machine needles and uses. It will also include a trunk show.
WORKSHOPS
Intermediate
Quilting with Decorative Threads
This is a technique
class on thread. (Not another UFO to bring home!) This class can be either a
full-day workshop or can be shortened to a half-day workshop. You will learn how
to use various thread weights and how to deal with those difficult threads that
we love but hate to use. Techniques will include bobbin work, twin needle,
couching and others. This is a perfect chance to experiment with different
threads and explore the creative options for quilting. Everyone who is taking
this class must have prior machine quilting experience and be willing to learn
how to adjust both top and bobbin tensions. When you finish this class, you will
have samples of the different techniques and reference notes that will help you
when you want to apply these new techniques on your future projects.
